Based in Queensland, Australia, Scantec Refrigeration Technologies specialises in the design, installation, automation and servicing of industrial and commercial refrigeration plants. The company places a special focus on promoting the widespread use of natural refrigerant technologies in Australia, advocating their future-proof, inexpensive and readily available qualities. Its systems, predominantly employing ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide, aim to achieve superior energy efficiency, ensuring the minimisation of energy costs.
Firsts for Scantec
- Scantec’s first conversions from HCFC 22 to NH3 date back to the early 1990s.
- In 2000, Scantec installed the first subcritical CO2-based refrigeration system in the Southern hemisphere.
- In 2003 Scantec pioneered large scale, central low charge NH3 refrigeration systems through completion of a state of the art installation servicing a 10,000 m² cold store. The superior energy performance of its low charge ammonia systems has now been proven in practical installations in most major Australian cities.
- In 2012 Scantec installed the first Australian ammonia-based commercial air conditioning system in a public administration building in Brisbane.
