First warm climate CO2 transcritical store in the U.S.
One of the first U.S. manufacturers of CO2 equipment, Hillphoenix has been an industry leader in the adoption of CO2 refrigeration technology in the U.S. since it installed its first test sites employing CO2 as a secondary fluid at a Food Lion store in Montpelier, Virginia and at a Sam’s Club in Savannah, Georgia in 2006.
In July 2014, Hillphoenix unveiled the first warm climate CO2 transcritical installation in the U.S. at a Sprouts Farmers Market in Dunwoody, Georgia. It was the most southern transcritical CO2 booster system in North America, with the second closest installation located in Indianapolis, IN. The installation involved CO2 booster technology by Advansor with 4 medium temperature (MT) compressors and 3 low temperature (LT) compressors as well as a TrilliumSeriesTM hybrid evaporative condenser designed for Hillphoenix by Baltimore Aircoil Company, which was key in ensuring efficiency in the warmer climate of metro-Atlanta.
Hillphoenix learning center
Launched in 2006, the Hillphoenix Learning Center provides up-to-date information and training in the field of commercial refrigeration, including instructor-led courses, hands-on-training, online courses and more. It provides training for a number of organizations seeking to educate contractors, engineers, employees and customers. The cutting-edge programs cover the range of Hillphoenix products such as display case technologies, power systems, refrigeration systems, specialty display case technologies and walk-ins. Offered courses include product knowledge (basic and advanced), installation, set-up, troubleshooting & maintenance (ISTM) courses, as well as customized programs based on end users’ specific needs.
The Advansor CO2 Booster System Installation and Startup course covers the installation of Advansor CO2 booster systems, start-up, maintenance and troubleshooting. Participants are familiarized with CO2 booster systems and how they operate and given an overview of the technology describing the benefits CO2 booster systems can provide. The course also explains control and operating strategies, addressing specific concerns related to installations and start-ups.
