Senator Ricardo Lara (D) is a California State Senator representing the 33rd Senate District, which encompasses Long Beach and portions of the Gateway Cities region.

In 2016, Lara authored the Super Pollutant Reduction Act committing California to reduce HFC emissions by 40% by 2030. Building this, he presented the California Cooling Act, aiming to introduce incentives for installations with low-GWP solutions including natural refrigerant systems.
